June 22 at 12.15-All-Russian Minute of Silence

In accordance with the Federal Law "On Amendments to Articles 2 and 3 of the Federal Law "On Days of Military Glory and Memorable Dates of Russia" and Articles 2 and 11 of the Law of the Russian Federation" On Perpetuating the Memory of Those Who Died in the Defense of the Fatherland " of 01.04.2020 No. 82-FZ, every year on June 22, on the Day of Memory and Mourning – the Day of the Beginning of the Great Patriotic War (1941), at 12.15 Moscow time, the All-Russian minute of silence is announced.

It was at this moment, in 1941, that the inhabitants of the Soviet Union were officially informed of the attack on the country by Nazi Germany and announced the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The general minute of silence in modern Russia is a reminder to the world of the aggression against our country and of the indomitable will and courage of our multinational people, who did not submit to fascism and gave the world victory in the Second World War. A symbol of the common eternal national memory and sorrow for every victim and all victims of fascism, the union of generations in the rejection of aggression and Nazism, the protection of universal values, the education of present and future generations in the tradition of kindness and justice, the value of peace and friendliness.
