Symptoms of COVID-19

The most common symptoms of coronavirus:

• fever;
• dry cough;
• fatigue.

Less common symptoms that occur in a number of patients:

• loss of sense of smell or taste;
• nasal congestion;
• conjunctivitis (or redness of the eyes);
• sore throat;
• headache;
• muscle or joint pain;
• different types of skin rashes;
• nausea or vomiting;
• diarrhea;
• chills or dizziness.

As a rule, the symptoms are mild. In some people, the infection manifests itself with erased symptoms or is not accompanied by them at all.

With a severe course of the disease, it is possible:

• shortness of breath;
• loss of appetite;
• confusion of consciousness;
• persistent pain or a feeling of compression of the chest;
• high body temperature (above 38°C).

And less common:

• irritability;
• confusion of consciousness;
• decreased level of consciousness (sometimes accompanied by convulsions);
• anxiety;
• depressed state;
• sleep disorders;
• more severe and rare neurological complications, such as stroke, inflammatory brain damage, delirium, and nerve damage.

People of any age who, along with the appearance of fever and/or cough, notice difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, pain or a feeling of compression of the chest, speech disorders or motor disorders, should immediately seek medical attention.
