Symptoms of COVID-19
The most common symptoms of coronavirus:
- fever;
- dry cough;
- fatigue.
Less common symptoms that occur in a number of patients:
- loss of sense of smell or taste;
- nasal congestion;
- conjunctivitis (or redness of the eyes);
- sore throat;
- headache;
- muscle or joint pain;
- different types of skin rashes;
- nausea or vomiting;
- diarrhea;
- chills or dizziness.
As a rule, the symptoms are mild. In some people, the infection manifests itself with erased symptoms or is not accompanied by them at all.
With a severe course of the disease, it is possible:
- shortness of breath;
- loss of appetite;
- confusion of consciousness;
- persistent pain or a feeling of compression of the chest;
- high body temperature (above 38°C).
And less common:
- irritability;
- confusion of consciousness;
- decreased level of consciousness (sometimes accompanied by convulsions);
- anxiety;
- depressed state;
- sleep disorders;
- more severe and rare neurological complications, such as stroke, inflammatory brain damage, delirium, and nerve damage.
People of any age who, along with the appearance of fever and/or cough, notice difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, pain or a feeling of compression of the chest, speech disorders or motor disorders, should immediately seek medical attention.
