What antipyretic drugs during infectious diseases should be taken by the patient
In connection with the current epidemiological situation regarding the spread of coronavirus infection in the region, citizens who are in self-isolation mode are asked not to panic, and not to succumb to "fake" rumors, articles and posts in various information sources (Internet sites and social networks)!
If you have a fever, remember that a large group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have an antipyretic effect. These drugs can be in various forms: tablets, suspensions, candles, solutions for intramuscular administration.
Antipyretics are prescribed to patients at a temperature above 38 ° C. If a person does not tolerate a febrile syndrome, he is tormented by headaches, high blood pressure, a strong heartbeat begins (pronounced tachycardia), then antipyretics are used at lower temperature figures.
The safest drugs are ibuprofen and paracetamol. However, we must remember that each of these drugs has its own contraindications, application features, dosage and side effects!
Paracetamol (Efferalgan, Panadol, etc.) is allowed for use in children from 3 months, it has a number of contraindications: hypersensitivity, severe violations of kidney and liver function. You should take the lowest effective dose, in children the dose is calculated per kilogram of weight, so use only as prescribed by a doctor! The interval between the sessions must be at least 4 hours! Maintaining the interval is very important, because there is a high probability of side effects! The duration is not more than 3 days.
Paracetamol can not be used simultaneously with other paracetamol-containing drugs, as it has a number of side effects, the main of which is a violation of liver function (hepatotoxicity).
On March 19, the WHO canceled a previously common recommendation not to use ibuprofen in the treatment of patients with coronavirus. According to the organization, doctors treating COVID-19 patients do not report any negative effects of ibuprofen, beyond the usual known side effects.
Ibuprofen (Nurofen, Dolgit, Ibufen, MIG, etc.) is also allowed for use from 3 months, it has contraindications: erosive and ulcerative diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in the acute phase, "aspirin" bronchial asthma, etc. Compared with paracetamol, the longer-lasting effect is prescribed 2-3 times a day.
Combined drugs of paracetamol and ibuprofen (Ibuklin, Next) are registered in the Russian Federation.
As antipyretics drugs, you can use other NSAIDs non-steroidal, most often it is diclofenac (Voltaren, Ortofen etc., including in the candlelight), indomethacin, Ketoprofen (OKA was Ketonal, Artrosilene, etc.), meloxicam (Movalis, Artrozan, Amelotex, Moovin, etc., nimesulide (Nimesil, Nise, NIMULID, Emulex etc.)
All drugs from the group of NSAIDs have contraindications, when they are used, side effects may occur, most often this is a lesion of the gastrointestinal tract.
It should be remembered that before using these drugs, it is necessary to consult a doctor, strictly observe the dosage regimen: the lowest effective doses and a short course!
