Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is an acute infectious disease caused by viruses.
The carriers of the HFRS virus in nature are mouse-like rodents: the red vole, which lives in mixed forests, as well as the field mouse, yellow-throated mouse, common vole, house mouse, gray rat.
Human diseases of HFRS are registered throughout the year. Most often, a person becomes infected by inhaling dust, infected with the virus, as well as when drinking water, food, vegetables and fruits contaminated with secretions rodents. The period from the moment of infection to the onset of the disease is 7-25 days.
In the initial period, HFRS is often mistaken for the flu. The disease begins acutely with a rise in body temperature to 38-40 °C., chills, sharp headaches, muscle aches. There is redness of the face, neck, upper half torsos. My eyes are inflamed. Some patients lose their visual acuity. In some cases, there are nosebleeds, blood appears in the urine. Patients complain of abdominal and lumbar pain. The amount of urine decreases dramatically, in severe cases, anuria develops - complete cessation of urine excretion. Given the severity of the clinical manifestations and the severity of the disease, treatment of patients with HFRS should be carried out only in a hospital setting. If the first signs of the disease appear, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Preventive measures: when visiting gardens and dachas for the first time after the winter break, it is necessary to remember that for a long time buildings that are not visited by people are usually inhabited by rodents. It is necessary to ventilate the room and protect the organs after breathing with a respirator and wearing rubber gloves, perform a thorough wet cleaning with the addition of disinfectants funds, in their absence - a warm soap and soda solution. Bedding can be dried in the sun for 3-5 hours. During cleaning, you should not eat or smoke. It is necessary to monitor the cleanliness of the premises in private households, seal the ventilation holes with metal mesh and cement the cracks and holes. Food products should be kept out of the reach of rodents. For reliable prevention of HFRS infection it is necessary to carry out the extermination of rodents by all available means on the territory of dachas, gardens, private buildings.
