STOP HIV/AIDS

13.05.2019

The problem of the spread of HIV infection, which concerns the entire world community, remains relevant for our country. Today, more than 900,000 people in Russia are living with HIV. In order to reduce the number of new cases of infection, the Government of the Russian Federation has approved a state strategy, one of the main objectives of which is to raise public awareness of issues related to HIV infection.

In support of this strategy, the sixth All-Russian campaign "Stop HIV" will be held from May 14 to 19, 2019/AIDS" under the auspices of the Foundation for Social and Cultural Initiatives with the active support of federal ministries and departments, religious and public associations, as well as the mass media.

One of the main objectives of the campaign is to draw attention to the topic of HIV infection and AIDS, to ensure everyone's access to complete and reliable information about the ways of HIV transmission, protection measures against infection, methods of diagnosing infection and the irreversibility of the consequences in the event of its development, to eliminate stigmatization and discrimination of HIV-infected people.

Combating the spread of HIV infection in our country is one of the state priorities. The systematic measures taken by the Government of the Russian Federation have made it possible to achieve positive changes in the fight against this disease. Thus, the "vertical path" of infection transmission has been almost completely stopped: 98.5% of children of HIV-infected mothers are born healthy.

We managed to stabilize the epidemic process in adults: over the past three years, the number of new cases of infection has not increased. The stabilization has resulted in a significant increase in the coverage of the population with free HIV testing, and infected patients with treatment. 38 million citizens, or almost 26% of the country's population, were tested for HIV in 2018, which is 12% higher than in 2017.60% of HIV-infected people who are under dispensary supervision today receive the necessary treatment according to modern WHO schemes. At the same time, a decrease in the viral load was observed in more than 73% of those receiving antiretroviral therapy.

According to the results of the 1st quarter of 2019, there was an increase in the number of newly identified people with HIV infection in the Lipetsk region by 14.1% in general and by 20% among local residents of the region compared to the same period in 2018. There is an increase in the share of drug users identified with HIV infection by 37.7 %. The share of sexual infection was 52.2%. The main increase in new cases of HIV infection is provided by the age groups 30-39 (50 %), 40-49 years (35.6 %), 20-29 years (11.1 %). A total of 302 children were born from HIV-infected mothers, 9 of them are infected with HIV.

You can take an HIV test at:

  • GUZ "Lipetsk Regional Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases", (address-Lipetsk, Gagarina str., 135; working hours-from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 16.00) (except Saturday and Sunday);
  • polyclinics at the place of residence or other medical organizations in Lipetsk and the Lipetsk region.

An HIV test is a must-pass for anyone who:

  • have you ever had unprotected sexual contact;
  • had experience of injecting drugs;
  • planning a pregnancy;
  • wants to be confident in the state of their health and the health of their loved ones.

Prevention is the only available and sufficiently effective tool that we can use on a large scale and that can help the population to resist this disease.

Without the personal contribution of each of us, it is impossible to effectively resist HIV infection. It is aimed at finding and disseminating reliable information about transmission routes, prevention measures and ways to protect against HIV infection, applying this knowledge in everyday life, as well as combating prejudice against HIV-positive people and discrimination against people personally affected by the epidemic.

If you have any questions or doubts about HIV infection, please contact the specialists of the AIDS Center by calling the helpline 34 20 77. (Internet portals: www.o-spide.ru, www.aids48.ru in groups of social networks Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki SPIDU48NET).
