During pregnancy, there is a change in many processes in the body of a woman, including processes related to metabolism. Pregnancy changes almost everything: the perception of the surrounding world, taste sensations, emotions, and so on. But to ensure all the processes associated with pregnancy, significant energy costs and a fast metabolism during pregnancy are necessary.

The fact is that the work of all organs and systems undergoes enormous changes, and these changes, in order to ensure the productive work of the body of the expectant mother, as well as the growth of the fetus, need a good metabolism.

The term metabolism is a designation of all metabolic processes occurring in the body.

If the metabolism is disturbed during pregnancy

In the case when there are systematic errors in nutrition, especially during pregnancy, there may be failures in the metabolism of certain substances. Such a violation, and on the fact that the violation of the metabolism of which of the substances occurred, will depend on the diseases developing in the body, which, in turn, aggravate the course of pregnancy. Failure of carbohydrate metabolism provokes problems with the pancreas, its intersecretory function as an organ of the endocrine system, which can lead to the appearance of diabetes. In order to prevent the appearance of serious diseases and pathological conditions, especially in the state of pregnancy, it is necessary to adhere to fairly simple principles.

Nutrition and metabolism during pregnancy

In order to normalize metabolic processes, prevent their disorders, as well as improve and accelerate metabolism, you need to follow a few simple rules for nutrition. It is food that can regulate the work of the body as a whole, and each organ separately.

  • The fractional nature of the meal. The main advice of nutritionists and specialists dealing with pregnant women. In the case of eating small portions and often you can achieve good results. To do this, you should eat every three hours, and the portion should not exceed three hundred grams. This type of nutrition will help activate the short-term process of starting metabolic processes, speed up metabolism, improve overall well – being and the work of the gastrointestinal tract. Also, fractional nutrition will allow you to better control weight during pregnancy, which is very important, and not even from the point of view of aesthetics, but from the point of view of the general health of the expectant mother and the course of pregnancy and childbirth. Since excess weight in this period of time complicates it and can lead to serious consequences.
  • It should also be remembered that at night, the metabolic processes are significantly slowed down, so food should be taken no later than a few hours before bedtime (preferably three to four hours).
  • Since most of the processes in which the metabolism occurs during pregnancy is carried out due to the participation of oxygen and water, you need to include walks in the fresh air in your daily routine, preferably before eating, and also observe the drinking regime. At the same time, the water should be non-carbonated, but simply drinkable. The amount of water consumed should not be less than two to one and a half liters.
  • Most of the diet of a pregnant woman should be protein. As already mentioned, protein is the base material for many tissues. And since the body of a pregnant woman grows a fetus that needs protein, then this substance needs a sufficient amount. Protein in the body of any person performs a lot of functions. Therefore, the consumption of meat products, fermented dairy products, eggs and other things is an important point in maintaining and accelerating metabolic processes.

Of course, not only nutrition can and should support the normal functioning of the body. Physical activity is necessary, but it is not always shown during the gestation period.

In some cases, when it is impossible to influence the metabolic processes by correcting the diet, during pregnancy, doctors resort to the use of certain drugs that improve the metabolism without harm to the fetus and mother. But this method requires strict indications and specialist appointments.

But it should be noted that it is better to prevent a violation of metabolic processes than to treat them. And to do this, you just need to start with the basics of nutrition.
