On the importance of vaccination against COVID-19: the vaccination campaign in the Lipetsk region continues

15.12.2022

The COVID-19 virus is transmitted by airborne droplets. Coughing, sneezing and even ordinary breathing of an infected person can serve to spread the virus. The virus is capable of causing systemic immunopathological reactions, respiratory failure and is especially dangerous for older people and those who are at risk. It is easy to get infected with the virus – it is enough to be near the sick person. Therefore, it is necessary to comply with safety measures, among which one of the most effective is vaccination.

To date, almost 900.6 thousand people have completed vaccination against COVID-19 in the region, of which 199.6 thousand people have already received a repeated dose of the vaccine.

For those who find it easier and more comfortable to receive the vaccine in the form of a nasal spray, an intranasal method of administering the vaccine "Gam-COVID-Vac" ("Sputnik V") is available in the Lipetsk region. Nasal vaccine protects against all strains of coronavirus. Nasal vaccination is done twice with an interval of 21 days for citizens from the age of 18 and only with revaccination. More than 9 thousand people have already been vaccinated in this way

Persons from risk groups are subject to vaccination as a priority. These are people over the age of 60, people with chronic diseases, social workers and others who work with a large number of people.

Before vaccination, a mandatory examination of a doctor is required with temperature measurement, collection of an epidemiological history, saturation measurement, examination of the throat, on the basis of which a specialist doctor determines the absence or presence of contraindications to vaccination.

Vaccinations against COVID-19 are done in all state polyclinics in the region. Along with the work of stationary points, mobile vaccination points also work. At the moment, there are 60 such points in the region, where specialists carry out vaccination of the population in a "first-come, first-served" format.

For vaccination against a new coronavirus infection, residents of the Lipetsk region can enroll, not only by calling the polyclinic at their place of residence, but also through the portal "Public Services". To do this, click on the banner "Vaccination from COVID-19" (it is located on the main page of the site), and then click "Sign up for vaccination". Then you need to choose the service "Make an appointment with a doctor". Even if a person is not registered on the portal, he can register via a mobile phone.

The vaccine "Sputnik M" or "Gum-Covid-Vak M" is intended for the immunization of adolescents. The drug is two-component, as is Sputnik V. However, in its composition, the dose of the active substance is five times lower than in the "adult" version.

Contraindications for immunization of adolescents are severe allergic reactions, acute infectious and non–infectious diseases, exacerbation of chronic diseases, hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine. Before the injection, the child will be examined by a pediatrician – he will measure pressure, saturation and temperature.

Now it is important to protect yourself not only from COVID-19, but also from the flu in order to live the cold season as comfortably as possible. The population of the region has the opportunity to be vaccinated against two diseases at the same time. The effectiveness of covid and influenza vaccines when used together does not decrease.

To date, 604.2 thousand residents of the region have been vaccinated against influenza, including 181.7 thousand children – 100.4% of the plan, 20.4 thousand people have been vaccinated at the expense of employers and other sources of funding. The coverage of the population with flu vaccinations is 54.3%. Vaccination is almost complete, the sale of the batch of influenza vaccines available in the region amounted to 98%.
