How to preserve reproductive health?
According to the WHO definition, reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not just the absence of diseases or ailments in all areas related to the reproductive system, its functions and processes.
The health of the population, including reproductive health, is determined by the economic and social situation of the population, demographic processes, and environmental living conditions.
One of the most important medical and social problems in the field of reproductive health is the problem of infertility.A marriage is considered infertile in which, for one reason or another, occurring in the body of a woman or a man, or both partners, pregnancy does not occur with regular sexual activity without the use of any contraceptives for 12 months in a woman under 35 years of age, and in women over 35 years of age for 6 months.
There are many reasons for the increase in the number of infertile couples. These are past infectious diseases, environmental degradation, and other adverse factors affecting people's health. But, according to doctors, abortions are still one of the main causes of female infertility and a decrease in the population, especially during the first pregnancy, including in adolescence.
Every year, more than a million human lives are lost in the country because of abortions alone. A special risk group is women who have their first pregnancy. Termination of the first pregnancy, as a rule, causes complications that can have a negative impact on the course of subsequent ones, lead to miscarriage of the fetus or inability to conceive a child in the future.
However, the use of modern methods of pregnancy prevention reduces the frequency of abortions as the main cause of gynecological pathology, miscarriage, maternal and perinatal mortality.
Another serious reason is sexually transmitted infections, the spread of which contributes to the early onset of sexual activity and promiscuous extramarital affairs. It is possible to break this vicious circle only by educating the younger generation in the spirit of traditional family values.
- The preservation of reproductive health is an important medical, social, political and economic problem.
- In order to improve the reproductive potential of the country, great attention should be paid to preserving the health of adolescents, strengthening measures for their sexual and hygienic education.
- It is necessary to continue the work aimed at preventing unwanted pregnancy, continue to introduce modern methods of contraception among the population.
- Strengthen measures to prevent infectious diseases among the population.
- Create a system of preventive measures aimed at preserving the reproductive health of adolescent boys.
