Healthy donor – healthy nation

28.04.2021

A donor is a person who gives his blood, and with it – health to the patient. Saving the life of another person, giving a piece of yourself, everyone should remember that it will benefit only if his blood is safe and does not contain viruses, drugs, alcohol, chemical compounds and everything that can harm the patient. The health of the donor is not only his personal capital, it is also the hope and health of others.

The Blood Service constantly monitors the health status of donors. Each visit of the donor to the blood transfusion station begins with a temperature measurement. Filling out the necessary questionnaires by the donor and collecting detailed information about possible contacts with sick people or past illnesses is a mandatory moment of medical selection. A thorough examination by a doctor and the results of a laboratory study will help to identify abnormalities in the state of health and determine contraindications to donation.

Only a healthy person can be a donor! Proper preparation for donation will allow you to comfortably transfer the procedure and fully recover after it. Before donating, you need rest and a good sleep. The night before, you can not eat fatty, fried, spicy food, sausages, smoked and dairy products, eggs, butter. On the day of blood donation in the morning, it is necessary to completely exclude dairy products, eggs, bananas, meat products, nuts, chocolate. For a light breakfast, porridge on water, sweet tea, dried fruits, bread with jam is better. It is strictly forbidden to drink alcoholic beverages on the day of blood donation and 48 hours before it!

After giving blood to the donor, it is recommended to use products containing proteins, iron, and calcium. The diet should contain animal proteins (dairy products, meat, eggs, fish) and vegetable proteins (beans, peas, soy, lentils, corn). All donors should use products containing iron – buckwheat, lentils, parsley, spinach, apples, pomegranates, and rosehip. To restore the level of calcium, it is recommended to eat cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, fish.

Donors should constantly monitor their health and undergo preventive medical examinations, medical examinations for the timely detection of diseases or predisposition to them.

When a person decides to become a donor, he automatically chooses a healthy lifestyle not only for himself, but also for an unfamiliar patient to whom his blood will be transfused. Blood donation is a business card of citizens ' health and a mechanism for the development of a healthy nation.A healthy nation is the foundation of Russia's prosperity!

Head of the department of recruitment of donor personnel GUZ "Lipetsk regional blood transfusion Station" Yakovleva Marina Anatolyevna.
