On the World Tuberculosis Day, the specialists of the GUZ "LOPTD" told about the results achieved in their work.
On March 24, 2021, a demonstration of the work of the laboratory building with the clinical and diagnostic laboratory, the center for bacteriological diagnostics and the updated department of anesthesiology and resuscitation took place in the Lipetsk Regional TB Dispensary.
One of the most common and dangerous infectious diseases in the world is tuberculosis, which remains one of the 10 causes of high mortality in most countries. This diagnosis occurs in both adults and children.
The organizer and coordinator of all TB care to the population in the Lipetsk region is the GUZ "Lipetsk Regional TB Dispensary" hereinafter referred to as "LOPTD", which has been operating for almost 70 years.
Today, the structure of GUZ "LOPTD" includes 392 round-the-clock inpatient beds, 19 day hospital beds for adults and 20 day hospital beds for children, deployed in 4 buildings located at three addresses: in Lipetsk on Kosmonavtov Street, 35 / 1 and A. Makarov Street, 1a, in Yelets on Pushkin Street, 46.
Medical and diagnostic care for patients is provided in 9 round-the-clock inpatient departments, of which: 5 tuberculosis lung departments for adults, 1 for children, 2 surgical, 1 anesthesiology - resuscitation. The outpatient service is represented by three dispensary departments with a capacity of 810 visits.
Over the past five years, a laboratory building with a clinical and diagnostic laboratory and a center for bacteriological diagnostics has been built and put into operation in the GUZ "LOPTD", where molecular genetic methods for diagnosing tuberculosis, accelerated PCR diagnostics and determining the drug resistance of the pathogen to anti-tuberculosis drugs in real time are actively used. This allows you to identify the pathogen in the patient in the shortest possible time and prescribe treatment of tuberculosis purposefully, taking into account the sensitivity of the pathogen to drugs.
The building of the children's department is functioning, where outpatient and inpatient TB care is provided to children and adolescents with the possibility of distance learning. The use of innovative methods for the diagnosis of tuberculosis in children Diaskintest and T-SPROT makes it possible to identify "small forms" of tuberculosis, as well as a differentiated approach to the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis.
GUZ "LOPTD" is equipped with modern medical and diagnostic equipment, thanks to which in the tuberculosis pulmonary surgical department, qualified surgeons widely use minimally invasive video-thoracoscopic and modernized plastic surgeries, as well as high-tech methods of surgical treatment of lung diseases. In addition, operations are performed on other organs, thus the specialists of the State Medical Institution "LOPTD" provide patients with surgical care in full.
The quality of tuberculosis diagnosis remains at a fairly high level thanks to the state-of-the-art X-ray computer 16-slice tomograph.
The work of the endoscopic department of the State Medical Institution "LOPTD"also contributes to the early diagnosis. For more than 10 years, doctors have been using the method of bronchoblocation, which helps to close the decay cavities in patients.
"In 2020, a major overhaul of the department of anesthesiology and resuscitation, where the most severe patients are cared for, was completed. Here, each ward is equipped with a new supply and exhaust ventilation system, equipped with fine air filters. Indoor air disinfection is carried out using bactericidal UV lamps, open-type bactericidal installations, as well as closed-type recirculators. 4 multifunctional beds were purchased, equipped with a monitor for monitoring the patient's condition, a console with a call for staff and oxygen supply. An artificial lung ventilation device was purchased, " said A.V. Staroselsky, chief physician of the State Medical Institution "LOPTD".
In 2020, the specialists of GUZ "LOPTD" achieved the following indicators of treatment effectiveness: 79.6% of patients stopped bacterial excretion, 71.7% of patients were clinically cured, so the epidemiological situation of tuberculosis in the Lipetsk region has a persistent tendency to improve.
Currently, the regional dispensary employs 571 employees, including 60 doctors and 224 people of secondary medical personnel. This is a highly qualified team, 58% of doctors and 75% of nurses have qualified categories, many have been awarded the title of "Excellent Health Care Worker", Honored Doctor, Honored Health Worker of the Lipetsk region.
