Public care for palliative patients of the Lipetsk region in the conditions of COVID-19.
In the difficult conditions of the coronavirus pandemic and the increased burden on medical workers, it is especially important to provide medical and social assistance to seriously ill people in need of palliative care. To do this, it is necessary not to reduce the effectiveness of treatment, care and drug provision.
Within the framework of the project "Under the cover of Mercy", implemented by the Charity Fund "Preservation of the Nation and Development of Civil Society" in cooperation with the State Institution "Lipetsk City Hospital No. 4" Lipetsk-Med" and the State Institution "Lipetsk Regional Neuropsychiatric Hospital", a mobile palliative care service was established in Lipetsk.
The service is represented by employees of the foundation: patronage workers, a special psychologist and a driver with a car. Medical and social patronage covers remote areas of Lipetsk, including the village of Traktorostroiteley and other districts of the regional center.
Foster care workers come to the seriously ill at home every day, communicate with them, identify current needs and promptly eliminate all problems. Priority: care of the body and clothing, cleaning of premises; catering; treatment and receiving medicines; solving household and social issues.
Equally important is the support of patients in a good mood and optimistic mood, as well as psychological assistance to relatives.
To promptly address the issues of families of seriously ill patients and wards of the foundation, the hotline "Mobile Switchboard (24/7)"operates.
The Charity Fund "Preservation of the Nation and Development of Civil Society" is a member of the Public Council under the Health Department of the Lipetsk region. All employees have the qualification of a nursing nurse, have passed a medical commission and are provided with personal protective equipment.
The development of the strategy of Public care for the seriously ill in the situation of COVID-19 allows not only to ease the increased burden on medical institutions, but also contributes to the improvement of palliative care in the Lipetsk region, focused on the person and his personality.
