Ticks in our area are carriers of such diseases as ixodic tick-borne borreliosis (Lyme disease), human granulocytic anaplasmosis (HACH), human monocytic ehrlichiosis (MECH).
One of the most important areas of prevention of infections transmitted through tick bites is the individual protection of people, which includes compliance with the rules of conduct in the territory dangerous to ticks, proper wearing of clothing, the use of acaricides for the treatment of clothing and repellents for the treatment of skin.
Vaccinations are effective only against tick-borne viral encephalitis (CVE), they are carried out to persons traveling to territories endemic to CVE. If you do not plan to travel outside the Lipetsk region, there is no point in vaccinating, the territory of the Lipetsk region is not endemic to the PO (CVE).
After a tick bite, contact your nearest medical organization. According to the indications, you may be prescribed an emergency antibiotic prophylaxis within 72 hours after suction, as well as a dispensary monitoring of your health.
The removed attached ticks should be placed in a tightly closed container (for example, a plastic container for collecting tests with a screw cap) and delivered to the laboratory for the study. The service of tick research for the children's population of the region is free, for adults it is paid.
