What is the danger of respiratory diseases?

16.03.2021

Over the past week, 4874 cases of SARS were registered in the Lipetsk region. In Lipetsk, 3013 cases of SARS were registered. In the age structure of morbidity, the share of the child population was 61%. Indicators are below the threshold levels in all age groups, including those over 15 years of age.

Many of us treat respiratory diseases very lightly, considering them frivolous diseases, but practice shows the opposite. Many diseases of this group, if they develop in young children, the elderly, people with serious chronic pathologies, can face serious complications. Among them are severe pneumonia with damage to a large volume of the lungs; the development of respiratory failure; violation of independent breathing and acute tissue hypoxia; chronic heart failure, decompensation of chronic diseases.

The disease usually begins as a viral infection. However, if the infection is not treated, it can spread to the entire respiratory system. An acute respiratory infection prevents the body from receiving oxygen and can therefore lead to death (for example, if the lungs are damaged). People suffering from severe forms of these diseases need immediate medical attention.

Although it is almost impossible to avoid viruses and bacteria, we all get respiratory infections many times in our lives, but some risk factors increase the likelihood of developing an acute respiratory infection. The immune systems of children and the elderly are more susceptible to viruses. Children are particularly at risk because of their constant contact with other children who may be virus carriers or have SARS.

People with heart disease or with chronic bronchial and lung diseases are more likely to get an acute respiratory infection. Anyone whose immune system may be weakened by another disease is at risk.

Smokers are also at high risk and have more trouble recovering from any respiratory infection.

We draw the attention of the population to the danger of self-treatment of acute respiratory infections!

If you experience any symptoms of an acute respiratory infection, especially such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, you should definitely seek medical help to get treatment recommendations from your doctor.
