Over the past 50 years, cardiovascular diseases have firmly held the first place among all causes of death in the adult population of economically developed countries. Unfortunately, in terms of mortality from cardiovascular diseases, Russia is ahead of most European countries, which is especially true for people of working age, who have these indicators several times higher than those in economically developed countries.

Currently, the leading risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases are identified, which make the main contribution to premature mortality and the loss of healthy years of life, of which the main share belongs to factors that are more or less determined by the nature of nutrition.

Irrational, unhealthy diet contributes to the development of various secondary physiological disorders in the human body: high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia, overweight (obesity), hyperglycemia,

At the same time, according to most scientists, the decline in morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular diseases in most civilized countries over the past decades is associated not only and not even so much with the development of specialized and high-tech medical care for patients, but with the implementation of preventive programs.

The above justifies the need for comprehensive measures, among which the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, primarily early detection and correction of risk factors, is a priority task to improve the demographic situation in Russia and preserve its labor and life potential.
