Into a new life – with comfort: a family ward for babies and their parents has appeared in the Lipetsk perinatal center

In the obstetric department No. 2 of the Lipetsk Regional Perinatal Center (LOPC), a new family room of increased comfort is being opened. After giving birth, young mothers can stay in it not only with their newborn babies, but also with other relatives: a separate room is provided for them with the possibility of a round-the-clock stay.

The ward is equipped with a TV, shower, refrigerator, modern furniture and interior items. A space has been allocated to prepare mom for discharge with access to a hairdresser and makeup artist.

"In our perinatal center, we welcome partner births, and we are glad that now newly—minted parents have the opportunity to spend the first days together in a comfortable and private environment after the birth of the baby," said the chief physician of the Lipetsk regional Perinatal Center, Mikhail Evgenyevich Shchegolkov.

LOPC is the largest obstetric and pediatric complex in the region, specializing in the treatment of various complications of pregnancy, the management of particularly difficult cases and their delivery, including premature birth and nursing of premature newborns.

The building of the building was built according to a modern project and is equipped with the most modern high-tech medical equipment, including for nursing even extremely heavy children:

• incubators for newborns;
• artificial lung ventilation devices for babies and women in labor;
• x-ray and ultrasound machines;
• fetal monitors, biochemical analyzers;
• the only intensive phototherapy chamber in the Chernozem region (as one of the very effective methods of reducing bilirubin toxicity) for the treatment of hyperbilirubinemia (neonatal jaundice);
• a total hypothermia device for newborns, which allows, in conditions of controlled cooling of the newborn, to reduce the number of such formidable complications as cerebral hemorrhage and its defeat in hypoxia;
• a device for nitric oxide therapy, which allows treating complex cases of pulmonary hypertension in newborns.

Specialists with the highest qualifications are gathered here, patient care is carried out using the most modern technologies.

The organization of the family ward will create an even more homely atmosphere, both for parents and for the baby. Mom and dad will learn how to handle the baby from the first minutes of life under the watchful supervision of specialists.
