World Mental Health Day. What should everyone remember?

The goal of establishing World Mental Health Day is to reduce and prevent common depressive disorders, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, drug addiction and mental retardation, which affect 450 million people worldwide.

It is celebrated on the initiative of the World Federation of Mental Health on October 10, 1992, and reminds that fighting these diseases is a secondary task, the main thing is to prevent them, to remember about the protection of mental health. The development of such diseases contributes to:

  • constant information overload;
  • political and economic situation in the country;
  • hard work;
  • daily tedious trips in public transport;
  • life in a state of constant stress.

50% of patients who often use medical care have depression. It is very important to recognize its symptoms at an early stage: lack of satisfaction with life, a sense of hopelessness, a sense of anxiety, despair, longing, internal tension, constant fatigue, unmotivated irritability, memory problems, impaired concentration and sleep, depression, rejection of the help of loved ones, isolation.

Unfortunately, all of the above symptoms do not contribute to the desire to seek medical help. Therefore, it is very important that this condition of a person is noticed by his relatives. After all, official figures report that 3 million people annually commit suicide, 19 million make unsuccessful suicide attempts.

The most at-risk groups are:

  • working women with young children;
  • people who do not have close relatives nearby — - young widows;
  • persons who have suffered traumatic brain injuries and crippling operations;
  • women with postpartum depression;
  • representatives of creative professions who have lost their muse.

Prevention of mental disorders is the preservation of mental balance. It is much better to prevent the disease than to be treated with antipsychotic medications, which contribute to sexual disorders, and also in most cases lead to obesity.

The main thing is to learn how to protect your own nerve cells from overexertion, not to try to solve problems that you can not do, and-learn to relax.

Ways to relax:

  1. healthy sleep;
  2. proper nutrition;
  3. the opportunity to give vent to negative emotions, tears;
  4. conversion to God, faith;
  5. mental and physical work that alternates with rest;
  6. sex;
  7. meditation;
  8. yoga classes (remember that sports and passive recreation do not always promote relaxation, it is important to change the worldview);
  9. positive thinking, self-training;
  10. travel, humor, hobbies;
  11. dance clubs, clubs, music;
  12. trips to nature, walks in parks;
  13. taking care of pets, houseplants;
  14. aromatherapy, taking aromavannas;
  15. help to relatives, friends, orphans from orphanages, boarding schools (this gives a sense of demand, strengthens self-esteem and a sense of importance).

Create permanent responsibilities that will provide a sense of stability in your life. For example, morning exercises or jogging, evening walks, breakfast under the morning TV program, watching the same programs (TV series, news), reading books, newspapers, magazines, especially the desire not to miss a single issue of your favorite publication.

Appreciate all that you have, what you are used to treating as due — after all, many people do not have what you have.
