The health department of the Lipetsk region held a briefing on the topic: "For whom and what is the danger of the new strain of coronavirus "Omicron"

01.02.2022

On January 28, 2022, the health department held a briefing on the spread of a new strain of coronavirus infection "Omicron".

The event was attended by Deputy Head of the Health Department of the Lipetsk region - Oksana Valeryevna Fateeva, Chief freelance specialist epidemiologist of the Health Department of the Lipetsk Region - Andrey Filatov, Chief freelance specialist in infectious Diseases of the Health Department of the Lipetsk Region - Lilia Viktorovna Sirotinkina and Chief Physician of the Lipetsk City Children's Hospital - Elena Vladimirovna Kopytina.

A new strain of coronavirus infection "Omicron" has arrived in the Lipetsk region. 12 cases have already been identified in the Lipetsk region, 4 of them are children. None of the patients were hospitalized. The disease proceeds with a high fever, runny nose, cough and sore throat, but patients are already on the mend, next week they plan to have control smears.

Vaccination of children in the region may begin next week. It is allowed to be vaccinated from the age of 12 with the consent of parents, from the age of 15 permission is not required.

During the day (January 27), the incidence of coronavirus infection increased almost 2 times from 384 cases to 623. At the same time, the number of hospitalized is not growing. Today there are 736 of them, yesterday there were 741. Doctors recommend not to relax. The wave of the disease has not yet covered the region. The peak incidence is expected by mid-February.

"Now, of course, there has been a multiple increase in the positive results obtained on PCR tests, on express tests. At the moment, these are still more outpatient patients. The number of calls to the EDS, appeals to polyclinics has increased threefold. It should be noted that almost all unvaccinated patients are in the hospital," said O.V. Fateeva, Deputy head of the Health Department of the Lipetsk region.

In accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, those who were vaccinated, revaccinated or were ill less than six months ago with an asymptomatic course of COVID-19 do not need treatment, but can get sick leave and should remain in self-isolation. They should also check their temperature at least once a day.

These provisions do not apply to patients at risk (over 60 years of age, with chronic diseases or overweight), as well as those who have symptoms. Other recommendations apply to them:

  • - stay at home, if possible, isolated from other family members in a separate room;
  • - apply for a sick leave;
  • - ventilate the room;
  • - observe the drinking regime;
  • - measure the temperature at least three times a day;
  • - if possible, measure saturation with a pulse oximeter twice a day (normal values are not lower than 95-96 percent);
  • - use symptomatic treatment, but do not take antibiotics yourself. If the condition worsens, shortness of breath appears or the temperature rises above 38 degrees and lasts longer than two days, you need to consult a specialist at number 122 or call an ambulance.
