Vaccination against a new coronavirus infection is a turning point of the pandemic
On June 21, 2021, the health Department of the Lipetsk Region held a press conference for representatives of the regional media "Vaccination against COVID-19: answers to topical questions".
The press conference was attended by the head of the department of organization of assistance to the adult population and sanatorium-resort affairs of the health Department of the Lipetsk region Koroteeva S. V., and the chief freelance specialist epidemiologist of the health Department of the Lipetsk region Filatov A. N.
The purpose of this event is to draw public attention to the global problem of the pandemic and the need for vaccination against a new coronavirus infection.
About 170 thousand Lipchans have already received the first dose of the vaccine, and more than 145 thousand people have undergone a full course of vaccination against a new coronavirus infection.
In total, 60 percent of the adult population of the Lipetsk region – 547.5 thousand people-must be vaccinated during the vaccination campaign.
"Every day, more than 1,400 people receive the first dose of the vaccine in the region. But this is too slow a pace. To complete the vaccination campaign by September 2021, it is necessary to vaccinate five to six thousand people every day, " said S. V. Koroteeva, head of the Department of organization of medical care for adults and sanatorium-resort affairs of the Health Department of the Lipetsk Region.
A characteristic trend: the older a person is, the more he begins to value his life and health. The greatest activity in terms of vaccination is shown by people aged 60 years and older. Among them, about 50 percent are vaccinated. The second most active group is people aged 50-59 years – almost 19 percent of those vaccinated. The lowest activity among young people: only 5.6 percent were vaccinated at the age of 18-29.
Vaccinations are carried out in all medical institutions, there is also an on-site form of vaccination, when residents are vaccinated in shopping centers, parks and other crowded places. More than 43 thousand residents of the region were vaccinated by doctors at their workplace. On the day of vaccination, it is planned to provide a day off for working citizens. To attract the population, a bonus program has been developed: for those who have been vaccinated, there are discounts in some shopping centers and the pharmacy chain "Lipetsk Pharmacy".
A full course of two vaccinations against coronavirus infection gives immunity for a year or more. Moreover, as doctors say, immunity after vaccination protects better than the immunity of those who have had a coronavirus infection.
"The only way to reverse the pandemic, to stop it, is vaccination. And there are examples of this. In Israel, where 62 percent of the population has been vaccinated, isolated cases of coronavirus infection are being recorded in some European countries today" - the chief freelance specialist epidemiologist of the health department of the Lipetsk region Filatov A.
