A reminder for citizens choosing between medicines and monetary compensation
The provision of social assistance is guaranteed by the State. A set of social services (NSOs) is a list of social services provided to certain categories of citizens in accordance with the Federal Law "On State Social Assistance".
The NSO grants the right to:
- free receipt of medicines according to the doctor's prescriptions;
- free spa treatment;
- free travel by commuter rail, as well as by intercity transport to and from the place of treatment.
The state provides a choice between NSOs and monetary compensation for their cost.
As long as a person's health does not cause him much concern, and chronic diseases do not worsen and do not progress, it is easy for a person to succumb to the temptation to replace the NSO with monetary compensation.
As soon as the condition worsens, and the disease becomes protracted, requiring long-term treatment and a variety of medications, it becomes obvious that monetary compensation for treatment is not enough, especially for cancer, diabetes, bronchial asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic kidney failure, etc.
Citizens who refuse to receive a full NSU, or its medicinal component, will not be able to receive the necessary drugs for free, and they will need to purchase them at their own expense. Such a burden for the family budget can be unbearable.
If you have made a choice in favor of monetary compensation of the NSO and you are convinced that it was wrong, you need to know: to restore the right to receive the NSO is possible only after submitting an appropriate application to the Pension Fund.
We recommend that you submit an application to the Pension Fund no later than October 1 of this year to resume the provision of NSOs for free medical care and other social guarantees.
Citizens who receive NSU in kind (including free medicines) do not need to apply to the Pension Fund.
The right to receive the medicinal component of the NSO in kind is vital!
If you retain the right to the NSO, the state will ensure that your right is effectively protected.
